Kathryn McCampbell, RN, is Project Manager for REACH Italia serving orphans and UGADEC Gorilla Conservation Project in Democratic Republic of Congo. She facilitates fund raising, partnership building, recruitment of volunteers,  healthcare, medicine, clean water and health education for the vulnerable children of Congo. She is currently forming a charity called  http://www.congochildrenfund.org.  Reach her on Facebook @RN for CONGO (orphans in DRC)  She is seeking grant opportunities to subsidize her move to Congo where she will continue her work full time. This is a cause that will save the lives of children that deserve a chance despite being born in a very difficult world.

Most people ask, “What can I do to help?” The truth is that everyone can help, .even children. A local high school class made a poster and went up and down the halls with a fish bowl. They raised $308 in two days. And it was used to buy critically needed antibiotics for a clinic.

Anyone on Social Networks can share links and spread the word. People who are business owners can offer services and donate the payment. Craftspeople and artists can donate items for auction. People can hold garage sales or other fund raisers; dinners or car washes, Anyone with a skill or service can offer their time and donate the payment. This would include massage therapists, bands and musicians, hair stylists, food services, gallery owners, Members of organizations or churches can ask for the community’s support.

.Anyone with influential friends might mention the project to see if they know others who can help.

Someone with celebrity can endorse the project and make it more credible for funding.

Every charity is run like a business that needs all the same services a business needs; Graphic Design, Film Making, Accounting, Legal Assistance, Administration, Printing, Marketing, meeting and office space etc. There is no shortage of ways you can get involved. Just contact me. I’ll be grateful you did.

    • Kaiyum, What are you doing? I am so happy to hear from you. I’m still in US hoping to go soon. Please don’t give up. I know it’s just a sea of need. We need to focus on what we CAN do. It matters so very much. Sometimes when I’m overwhelmed I concentrate on small cute innocent things like little girls dresses with ladybugs, rabbits and ducklings on them. Please stay in touch. Kathryn

  5. Hi Julia,
Thanks for your comment and prayers. I imagine adoption is similar to my dream to go in that most of the journey you live on prayers and faith and can’t see how it’s all going to happen. You just trust that it will. I have heard about two adoptions from Congo this week. I could not adopt myself but have watched adoption stories on TV for years. I guess I just love to bathe in the happy endings. I anticipate yours as you follow your path. Smile.
